Fast food can be more heart-healthy if you know what to look for, order and have the will power to follow through.

Follow these fat-sensible tips when making your fast-food choices:
  • Just say No to the “Value-size” or “Super-sizing” it just increases the amount of fat, sugar, sodium and calories you consume.
  • Say “No" to french fries and choose grilled instead of fried, say “No” to double meat, bacon or cheese.
  • Order pickles, onions, lettuce, tomatoes, mustard or ketchup to add flavor without  fat.
  • Drink water, skim or low-fat milk.  Regular sodas are loaded with sugars and calories.
  • With this little bit of effort, you can ensure that the fast-food meals you choose will fall within a healthier dietary pattern while you are on the run and cannot prepare a fresh, low fat, low carbohydrate meal.
